The best players in the Mexican leagues

Posted in Player Help | On March 8th, 2008 | By Kazzy

This is something i wrote for fm2007 and you may remember this guide from before, i found it on my hard drive and believe it could still serve some use after updating it of course…

So after being Mexico in the Challengefm official challenge (whilst it was up and running) I was pleasantly surprised at some of the players. Here im going to tell you the best players in each position from the Mexican playable leagues. So, lets get started….

Goalkeeper

The best keeper goes by the name of Francisco Guillermo Ochoa. He plays for America (MEX) and has 21 caps for Mexico already at only 21 years of age, he has the potential to be in the top 10 or more goalkeepers in the world. If you are interested he can be picked up for approximately £13mil which unfortunatly is high but his wages currently are only £5k a week. His aerial ability, handling throwing and reflexes are all very very good. A very proffesional who is entheusiastic in his football.

Right back

Our best right back in Mexico is Israel Castro, currently playing for Pumas but with only 8 caps for Mexico at the age of 26. Unfortunately he isnt brilliant but is still the best of whats available in these leagues he can be picked up for £3mil and with his current wages at £8k. He still has room for improvement and could possibly hold his own in a top league but there is far better from around the globe. He has a good sense of marking, positioning, work rate and composure.

Centre defenders

Francisco Javier Rodriguez is one of the best central defender in these leagues and is only 25. He has 33 caps and 1 goal for Mexico but cannot be bought for under £3.7mil with wages of £8.75k a week at his current club. Currently he plays for Chivas and has all the attributes needed for a defender, Heading, tackling, marking, anticipation and strength are very good. He is a fairly loyal and has a load of room to improve.

Jonny Magallon is next on our list and is fairly equal to Rodriguez but has not got the same potential .He currently plays for Chivas and is available for £3.7mil, he would want wages of over £10k a week as he is currently on that at Chivas. He has 18 caps but has not scored for his country yet. He has the potential to improve a lot and is only 25 years old. Again he has all the defensive attributes needed for a good defender and is a very good team player.

Left back

The best left back in this league is Gonzalo Pineda. At only 24 years of age and 39 Mexican caps and 1 goal and is a really good player. He would cost £1.6mil to buy from Chivas and would command wages of £11k - £15k a week at least, maybe more. Pineda is a very good penalty kick taker with very good marking and tackling to help in his full back role. A loyal player with plenty of skills who also thrives on the big games. He is a player i would recommend.

Right midfield

Bofo Bautista is the top right midfielder here but is very attack minded. With 16 caps and 7 goals for Mexico he seems to enjoy scoring at the top level. Currently playing for Jaguares and he would be available for £1.7mil and would want wages of at least £15k a week. A very skillfull player who is 28 years old. A loyal player who is very determined with a fantastic first touch and strike of a ball. With that said he is very poor at set pieces.

Center midfielders

Fernando Arce is is name and he Currently plays for Santos Laguna and is 27 years old. He would cost £1.3mil to buy with 12.5k a week in wages currently being payed by his club. He is an attack minded player band has slight room for improvement. A good set piece taker who excels at corner taking. His passing and technique give him loads of flair but his creativity excels him. A player who could do quite well for you.

Carlos Esquivel is our next midfielder and is contracted to Tigres. Available to buy for £1.2mil and would want 6k wages a week or above. Suprisingly at 24 he is uncapped, he is a decent player who could do a job. He has a few skills, paticulary dribbling, his decisions and determination are good and he is a flair player.

Left Midfield

Ramoncito Morales, he is our best left midfielder in the league and is very attack minded. He is getting on at 31 years old and plays for Civas. He has 55 caps for Mexico and 6 goals so he is recognised worldwide. If you wanted to buy him, you would have to pay Chivas £1mil and pay the player at least but probably more than 13k a week. He has bags of dribbling skilss and is another flair player, his crossing and corners are also very good and he is a very good penalty taker. The experienced winger is very proffesional and has a continental reputation.

Strikers

Cuauhtemoc Blanco is the top striker in the league. At 34 years of age he has been around the block but has 97 caps and 33 goals for Mexico. Currently contracted America (Mex) he would cost about £2mil with wages of 20k a week. A world class player who is compared to Andriy Shevchenko but can be as good as Ronaldo, unfortunately its possible he wont progress anymore as he is 33. An ambitious player who is also a leader on the pitch. A great football brain with a great first touch. His stamina lets him down physically.

Kikin Fonseca has 33 caps and 20 goals for Mexico and at club level he plays for Tigres. Available for £2.5 mil and wages varying from £5k to £15k a week. He is almost as good as Ole Gunnar Solksjaer with the potential to be better than Hernan Crespo. He is a model professional and is ambitious. He also enjoys big matches and is a very fit player. A poor passer of the ball unfortunately so he should only be employed as a striker.

That brings us to the end of my little Mexican player guide. I hope you enjoyed reading this. If there is anything I can do better please let me know.

I had Kikin Fonseca in my team. He performs power shots outside the area very well!
